Lead in the pipes

Mercury poisoning (also known as mercurialism, hydrargyria, Hunter-Russell syndrome, or acrodynia when affecting children) is a disease caused by exposure to mercury or its toxic compounds. Mercury is a cumulative heavy metal poison which occurs in its elemental form, inorganically as salts, or organically as organomercury compounds; the three groups vary in effects due to differences in their absorption and metabolism, among other factors.[1] However, with sufficient exposure all mercury-based toxic compounds damage the central nervous system and other organs or organ systems such as the liver or gastrointestinal tract.
Symptoms typically include sensory impairment (vision, hearing, speech), disturbed sensation and a lack of coordination. The type and degree of symptoms exhibited depend upon the individual toxin, the dose, and the method and duration of exposure.

Due to its toxicity, there have been campaigns in many countries to ban mercury altogether...

HAARP

Experts agree that Chinese earthquake of 5/12/08 was probably caused by HAARP grid located in the United States and operated by the CIA. Witnesses say 30 minutes before the earthquake they could see lights in the sky above the epicenter, similar to aurora borealis, which is exactly how the use of HAARP manifests itself. It is important to note that although country’s policies and ambitions are most probably at play here, in this sad case on which many scholars happen to agree, the directors of country’s policies and ambitions are responsible for the actions...

Deny the Toll Road Appeal

The (YEACH) Transportation Corridor Agency is trying to revive its plan to build the 241 Foothill-South Toll Road through San Onofre State Beach. (JUST WONT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER) They have asked the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to override the California Coastal Commission's denial of the road.

Remember, on February 6, 2008 the California Coastal Commission voted to deny the 241 Foothill South Toll Road through San Onofre State Beach. Following thousands of pages of written comments and a 14 hour hearing attended by thousands, the Commission listened to reason and to the law by rejecting the toll road application.

Unfortunately the agency planning this Toll Road has appealed the Coastal Commission’s decision to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce. The Secretary is accepting comments from the public on this appeal until May 28th. The people in D.C. need to hear from Californians and people from all over the world who care about San Onofre and Trestles!

Your voice is needed! Don't let the TCA's lobbyists be the only influence on this important decision!

Paris Hilton Sprung

Hotel heiress Paris Hilton was released from prison on Thursday for medical reasons after serving just over three days of a 23-day sentence but she will be confined to her home for 40 days, officials said.

Steve Whitmore of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s office said Hilton had been “reassigned” though he declined to give specific information on her medical condition for privacy reasons.

Hilton, a symbol of privilege and American celebrity culture, will have to wear an electronic monitoring device on her ankle to ensure she does not go out for the next 40 days...

Natural Selection

Is the evolutionary process by which favorable traits that are heritable become more common in successive generations of a population of reproducing organisms, and unfavorable traits that are heritable become less common. Natural selection acts on the phenotype, or the observable characteristics of an organism, such that individuals with favorable phenotypes are more likely to survive and reproduce than those with less favorable phenotypes. If these phenotypes have a genetic basis, then the genotype associated with the favorable phenotype will increase in frequency in the next generation. Over time, this process can result in adaptations that specialize organisms for particular ecological niches and may eventually result in the emergence of new species...

Pardon The Agents

Two former U.S. Border Patrol agents -- Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean -- are serving 11- and 12-year prison terms for attempting to apprehend an illegal alien drug smuggler. The smuggler, who was transporting 743 pounds of marijuana (about $1 million worth), was given full immunity to testify against our agents and is suing our government for $5 million.

Now, reports indicate that the Mexican government was instrumental in this case even being launched. Plus, our own government has been lying about key details in the case. Meanwhile, the agents sit in jail (Ramos was severely beaten by Mexican nationals in jail who shouted “death to the border agent”), the drug smuggler may get rich and our President has not taken action!!!

Ghost Ride

Frequently used in the context of "ghost riding the whip" (a "whip" being a vehicle) or simply ghostin', is when the driver of a car puts the car in neutral and then the driver (and passengers) of a vehicle exit while it is still rolling and dance beside it or on the hood or roof.

Ghost riding is one of the latest trends to be popularized by hyphy culture, which originated in the Bay Area of California. The act is one of the highest forms of "going dumb" and a representation of the style of hyphy. The term "ghost ride the whip" was given nationwide exposure in E-40's 2006 song "Tell Me When to Go". However, E-40 was not the first to use this term, as it was coined much earlier by other Bay Area rappers such as Mac Dre.

Ghost riding as a term also has a history in motorcross and stunt cycling. The rider typically jumps off the back of the bike then runs after it and jumps back on...

Remember Social Security

Somewhat disconcerting for US tax paying citizens to find out that about to become law is an agreement signed on June 29, 2004, between the U.S. Commissioner of Social Security and the director general of the Mexican Social Security Institute that allows illegal aliens to collect Social Security benefits if they have as little as 18 months of employment history. While US citizens must show 10 years, or 40 quarters of job history, to collect benefits...
